I would strongly advise a tonearm cable upgrade for your Linn Basik LVX. On further research I have found that the capacitance of the cable matches well with the Shure M97xE. The cable I bought was from ebay, and is the "Canare twisted pair tonearm Cable 2x26AWG double run - 1.20 m."

I have a newly tweaked and upgraded Thoren's TD160 B mkii truntable with a Linn Basik LVX arm. I am looking to buy a new cartridge. am i right in thinking that this arm works best with mm. I understand that mc ultimatley tracks the info on the vinyl better but may not be suited to this arm. I have a budget of between £200 and £300. Linn Basik LVX tonearm (made in Japan) cue drop has no damping. Any experience with cue damping on this arm, or similar cue design? I belive Basik LVX Pluss ans ADC Alt-1 tonearms use same cue. Hi I am making a L75 with Linn Basik LVX tonearm I find the Linn LVX Basik tonearm is not fully fixed to the plinth well ie it rotates about 2 to 3 mm at the center which translates into a large Bumping this up. I had the same problem with my linn basik lvx arm but was scared to attempt what the OP did. I ordered some 300k silicone oil and using a syringe, just put some on the shaft of the tonearm lift and continuously brought it up and down til the oil worked itself into the barrel. Linn arms are 211mm mounting distance. Basik LVX is 229mm length. I looked at Origin Live site. Thier Silver model is £720 (0). Can be special ordered in Linn length, for £250 extra. Or, buy new armboard to fit Origin arms for £27. IMO, a big pita with this Silver arm is VTA adjustment is done from underneath!
